LayOut Export to Vectors Too Slow

I’ve been trying to export my SketchUp perspective section, and it continually loads but never works. The model is 31 mb and 449 faces.

Things I’ve tried:

  • Cleaned up the file, purged unnecessary, turned off shadows, hidden line mode
  • Hybrid & Vector Mode
  • Updated all my drivers
  • Ensure Sketchup uses high performance GPU
  • Restarted my laptop

Does anyone know what else it could be? I’ve been trying for three days…

Can you share your file so we can check if it’s possible to optimize it better?

Yeah of course. Here’s a google drive link.

You shared the SketchUp model, not the LayOut file.

Where did you get the idea that there are only 449 faces. That’s not what Statistics shows.

It’s the edges that take the time to render for export anyway. With more than 2.2 million edges in the model, it’s no wonder exporting is taking a long time.

You should clean up the model and simplify it. Also fix incorrect tag usage.

You could make simpler components for all these heavy, high poly ones.Either that or wait it out.

Ah, I didn’t turn on nested components. Thanks for the notes, I’ll try to remodel some of it then.

Beside the problems that dave pointed out, your model has a lot of inverted normals, and loose geometry.

I also ran the CG Impact report plugin to check heavy components and groups, one chair alone has over 30K entities and you have 45 on the model, the table cloth has 18K entities and there are 9 on the model, that’s a lot to process, even if you have the current most powerful commercial cpu it will take a lot of time to export.

I recommend you to visit the sketchup campus website first to learn how to model, use groups, components and tags properly. SketchUp Campus
