Inverted shadows with New Graphics Engine

Using SU 2026 on Mac Sequoia with the new graphics engine (NGE), when I adjust light/dark shadow sliders, shadows end up being inverted. I typically use these sliders to get to a look with just a hint of shadow. The classic graphic engine behaves as I expect it should, flattening the shadows. Take a look at these screen shots:

That’s pretty cool although I doubt that it was intended behavior. It’s not specific to Mac. I see it on Windows, too.

It might be related to the old settings: Light=0, Dark=80 produces a totally “flat” image, with no shading or shadows. That seems to work still.

I noticed it in a much more complex model leading up to animating a 360 revolve, desiring shadow nuances (not actually completely flat) when attempting to balance the lighter side with the darker side. It started flipping to this kind of negative “shadow” under eaves and upon other surfaces as I was tweaking it. The classic engine’s flat example was too flat but was a good apples-to-apples settings comparison.
