Improvements Tag Tool, Outliner Tool and Standard Material

Outliner tool. I have a sugestion: Its the join of the Tag Tool and the Outliner Tool. I will explain. The Tags could be recognized like a group in the Ouliner Tool. Than, for example, if we put an object or component inside a tag, it automaticaly would be moved into the tag Group in the Ouliner Tool’s list. The tag would be a kind of group that does not work like a group. It would not join elements or components, but in the Outliner list, it would be seen like a group.

I am an architect. I live in Brazil. I’m trying to use sketchup and layout in all stages of the project.I organize my models using the Tag tool. Here, the possibility to choose colors is very useful. Due to the complexity and large number of blocks and components, the list of the Outliner tool is huge, which makes it difficult to use. I believe that grouping by tag can be a good Thing.

There’s one more thing. It’s about standard material. It is white. It would be nice if we could choose the color. This would lessen the following confusion: Has this wall been painted white or not? Perhaps the appearance of the standard material could be images of the sketchup icon.

Color by layer should solve this.

Change the default colour and set it as your template,

You already can.

Edit the style in use (in the “Styles” inspector.)
Switch to the “Face Settings” subpanel, and change the “Front Color” to whatever you like.

You cannot. Tags do not have entity collections. Tags are a set of display behaviors that objects use.

This is true. Tags cannot be groups. Tags could be used to filter the Outliner list to show only those objects tagged with certain tags. This has already been requested.

Reassigning this to the Feature Request category.

Thanks for your answer

If you want tags to function like containers, you can just use groups and components instead which already are containers. The whole point of tags is that they are independent of this hierarchy. You can have one chair inside a dining group inside an apartment component inside a building group, and a sofa inside of a living area group inside the same apartment component, and a chair standing on the common outdoor area outside of the apartment components and house groups, and all these objects could be collectively controlled using the furniture tag.

You can in Generate report, but derive information only, you cannot select the layer in generate report and ‘show all’
Add the Layer attribute (not yet rephrased) in the ‘Group By’

Thanks for your answer!

Thank you very much one more time. It Worked!

Thanks for the tip.
