I downloaded the .exe from the install site and it has, correctly identified my machine as a 64 bit operating system.
I need to learn on what I will be teaching if this is a program that catches on and fits in for the Comp-Prog class. All those machines are 32-bit. My machine here at home (the one I will be learning on is quite a bit more robust and 64 bit architecture.
Can someone please direct me to where I can download the 32-bit version?
There won’t be any difference in the sense of how it works. Best to install the version that is right for your machine.
Having said that you’ll find the 32 bit version on the download all page.
Synchronized posting, I’m wearing my swim cap too.
FYI Windows is designed to run both 32 and /or 64 apps , but I have read that widows 10 will phase that out but do not know if still the case. SU was a 32 app but as SU2015 the claim to be 64 app now. I have Windows 7 64 bit and have not seen any diff for Su 8, 2013, 2014 and 2015 although some plugins required change because ruby went from 1. 8 to 2.0 at 2014 my mem is ok.
not only Ruby, plugins using external executables must bei compiled/available as 64 bit versions too.
Besides accessing more working memory (more than ~2,5 gb) there is no difference, working w/ small models th SU x64 version is not required, even under a 64 bit operating system.
