How to remove an object from an object?

Untitled.stl (648.5 KB) I have created some cylinders which I would like removed from the object. I intersect the 2 then erase however it only erases the object I am trying to remove from the main one.

Untitled.skp (950.4 KB)

What happens if you open the group and select the 4 cylinders? But in the original SKP file, not the exported STL file you attached to this post.

Would you please help me learn out how I can delete those parts from the main model?

What is this thing? Looks like you imported the .stl for the main part? Use CleanUp3 to remove the unneeded coplanar edges and then fix the top to make the object a solid component. Then you can use the Solid Tools to for creating the holes with the cylinders.

This is such a simple object to model. I would abandon the imported .stl and model the thing from scratch in SketchUp. It would be easier and fast that fixing the lousy geometry you got from the .stl. Modeled from scratch:

BTW, what version of SketchUp are you really using? There is no Classic license for SketchUp 2026 as your profile shows.

Did you trace the original and is the cylinder diameter the same? Also may you please share the file?

And how to intersect geometry&objects

I copied the bottom face and the cylinders for the small holes. For the large holes I found the radius of the ones in the import along with the spacing and drew new geometry.

I’m sorry I didn’t keep it or I would share it.

Getting to the point of having a solid object from which to cut the holes is very simple in SketchUp. As I wrote before, easier to model it from scratch than to repair the bad geometry. If you are modeling for 3D printing, use Meters as the units and turn OFF Length Snapping.

With the holder thing as a solid object you can use the native Solid Tools or Bool Tools 2 or Eneroth Solid Tools to cut the holes with the “drills”.
