How to exact angles based on measurments of edges in a room

Creating a rectangular room is easy. But how can I properly use the line tool to get these angles right?

What I actually need to have is 843cm on the left side, 848cm on the right and the rest other edges should still be the same length.

Do you know at least two of the angles at the corners? If not, there’s an infinite number of possible combinations. If you do, you could use the Protractor tool to set out the corners starting from one edge.

A thing to note in your illustration is that the dimension on the left is not showing the length of the left edge of your polygon. It is showing the distance between the short edges and perpendicular to them. If you place the Dimension tool on the edge instead of clicking on the endpoints it’s easier to place the dimension parallel to the edge of interest.

How will you use the result of your model? How critical is it that you get the right angles at the corners?

-or the diagonals. with the free version, using high segment count arcs, you could get pretty close to the actual dimensions. close enough.

It’s pretty critical to have the correct angles, I want to use it as a remodel plan. I think I’ll have to buy a tool to accurately measure the angles of the corners. Then I can just input those in Sketchup. I suppose it then becomes pretty straightforward.

Thanks for your replies!

You can also do it by triangulation that you can perform as suggested by @ateliernab
