Hide the ~ files

I have a number of drawings for one project, but each drawing file has its backup(?) file alongside it - the same file name with a ~ after it.
Is it possible to permanently hide these files, or have them automatically move to a different location (or the bin!). I’m on a mac running os 10.13.4 with SketchUp Pro 2018.

I think they are indeed backup files. Never had to use one myself but I guess they serve a purpose.

If you don’t want Backup files, turn off Backup in Preferences.
