I remembered having seen, years ago, an extension (then called plugin) that would export views to be used in apps like Photoshop, Gimp, etc. to make selection easier in post-production: alpha, material ID (materials replaced by solid colors) and the like.
Does anyone remember its name and/or author?

But it is not working. Either it was not update for 2020 or it does not work on Mac.
CompoScene Version 2.0.7 on EW shows compatibility with SU2017 thru’ SU2020 for both Win & MacOS. Are you using this version?
Yes. I downloaded the trial version from the EW.
Probably best to try to get feedback from the author then.
