I have been having problems when starting a site model using a CAD file received from a surveyor. When I go to geo-locate this the Location Shapshot and Location Terrain do not align with what I received from the surveyor. What is causing this and how can I correct it?

The coordinates of a CAD file are different to how the Geolocation feature in SketchUp uses them. When you use the geolocation feature the centerpoint of the area you choose is placed at the SketchUp model origin. In a CAD file the origin is where the creator of the file placed it. It might be any convenient point or then the origin of the mapping coordinate system.
What I would do is to take the imported CAD lines and move them to a point that aligns with your imported terrain and snapshot.
