From set of 2D images to 3D model

Hi,
I want to convert a set of 2D drawings into a 3D model, and I’m wondering what would be the easiest way to do this?

I got 2D drawings of an old locomotive; seen from both sides and the top. Basically, this is all you need to create a 3D model, but does Sketchup or any plugins know how to read such a set of 2D images and project them into a 3D model?

Alternatively, if I have to do this job manually, does anyone have tips on how I can make this process as easy and efficient for myself as possible? E.g. Is there any way I can set up the 2D images and have them “project” from the red, green and blue axis?
