to demonstrate, see this first. as you see, I have a group containing a welded path and a face to extrude.
next to it will be the exact same but not grouped.
this is the ungrouped follow me. it’s what I expected.
this is the grouped follow me. same geometry but within a group.
if the path is in a group and the face is outside, it’s also broken. but it’s broken about 2m away.
if the path is outside of the group but the face is inside of the group, it’s behaving as expected.
nope. it’s raw. you can see the original method here
it’s really weird. if the path is in a group, it’s broken. if the path is outside in the wild, it’s fine.
I realise most (all?) my follow-me have ungrouped paths, sometimes the face is (because I made it separately), but not the path. I couldn’t say since when it’s been like that…
Edit: both work fine for me on Sonoma 14.7.3, but I’m still using SU 24. I usually wait for a few months before moving my production workflow into the next version. I’ll test 25 now…
I saved and quit. even deleted my file.
just now, I re-downloaded the file I shared above, and now it behaves as expected.
what’s weird is that upon saving, I didn’t get a message telling me stuff had been fixed (that would have explained…) so I really don’t know.
what’s also super weird is that I didn’t add or remove anything between the first video and the upload…
I’ll try later today to re-do the whole thing see if it starts again or not.
I know it can be frustrating when you are onto something but then (after letting it out) you can’t reproduce it and you are almost certain that you didn’t change a thing.
Is it the program, the version, an update, something with the hardware?
