Files duplicating, rearranging, and icons jumping sideways

A few things I’ve noticed lately. Nothing that stops me from using the program, but definitely annoying at the very least.

  1. even though I only ever save to local folders, my model files keep duplicating themselves. Is it a setting I’m not using right? I would rather not have duplicates on my home page.

  1. My files keep reorganizing themselves on the home page even though I have them set to “recent”. And some of these files at the top are ones I haven’t opened in about three years, while the one I was working on yesterday is 30 files down in the list.

  1. When working inside a model, the icons on the right sometimes jump out of line. When they do this, I can no longer tap them to open them (but I can tap one still in line and then scroll to the tab I wanted which works just fine). It also took out my icon in the upper right next to share.

I think I just noticed that the other day. I wasn’t finding something I was looking for only to find it later on way down the list

I am VERY bad at saving with a good screencap, so nothing ever looks like I’m expecting it to and I have to strain to read the tiny print. It’s reprogramming me to be a more thoughtful modeler I guess

Hi there @Danimaupin, just dropping a note that the team is actively investigating the duplicated files, wandering UI, and recents list ordering issues you brought up here. We’re hoping to have a fix for some, if not all of these in our next patch release.

I’m glad it is being looked into.

My files have duplicated again. I don’t know if it helps at all to know this. There’s also another file from 2025 inserted itself in the middle between the two.

Oooh!!!

okay, so the duplication of files is happening when I ditch out of SketchUp into another app (even if I have pressed save before leaving) without going back to the home page. When I get back it gives me the “we found this file that you abandoned would you like to save it” , and when I hit yes, because why not, it makes its own new file.

Thanks for the additional info @Danimaupin, this is great to confirm actually because our steps to reproduce are almost the same as you describe.

Reproduce by opening a file, setting auto save to 1 min, then make a change, let autosave kick in. Push the app to background, kill app from background. Reopen app, autosaved file dialog comes up, select save…go back to home screen and the file is duplicated.

We do have a fix for this now, it should be out with our next release.
