FabConvert SKP Repair - Useful or not?

The Copilot AI told me about the FabConvert file conversion website.
I wonder if anyone has tried it on a corrupt SKP file ?

About 80% of the damaged files posted here have zeroes substituted for all or large parts of the file contents. I cannot see how any software or website could be helpful with those.

well…

I checked with 4 files from the forum. 2 where colin could recover stuff, two where he couldn’t / didn’t attempt (massive parts of the file were missing)

and… 0/4

I tried a file that wouldn’t open in 21 but opened in 25 and…

I guess it’s worth keeping an eye on for files that won’t open in 25.

I would be leery of file conversion websites. I saw a recent article that stated some of these types of sites return infected files.

One of the reasons I brought up the question. I cannot find any information about the site, other than it is not (yet) blacklisted, and it is stealthy registered in Iceland (ie, the actual owners are hidden from Whois queries.)

I would say it’s enough reasons not to touch it with a bargepole.
