Entering Dimensions in SketchUp Directly From Your Digital Tape Measure

Hello all! I wanted to share a cool application today where you can directly update dimensions in SketchUp (via any text input field) directly from your REEKON Digital Tape Measure (T1 Tomahawk or T1M Utility). We had a few people reach out to us asking for how to do this and we put together a tutorial article showing how easy it is. This is a great way to getting real dimensions into your CAD model and is literally as simple as connecting over Bluetooth, selecting measurement field, and hitting the save button.

Let us know if you have any questions, want to see any demos, or if you would like to see any other functionality or features added to aid in your workflows!

You should make a video showing how this comes into SKP and its uses.

Would it come in when drawing a line?
Or a circle (radius)?
Or ???

I feel that I must point out that although this device is really nice, you could buy about 8-10 conventional tape measures for the price. You will have to assess just how strong your need is!

Agreed! Digital tape measures generally benefit pros who want to save time manually typing in measurements and the resultant human errors from reading a tape, writing down a measurement, then typing it in.

Until we see how it works in SKP it seems that it would be just as fast to type in the dimension… if I’m pulling measurements and then drafting on site in SKP I will presumably:

The way I’ve done it previously:
Start drawing line
Lock in direction
Helper calls out dimension
Designer types in dimension and presses enter

Using the digital tape:
Start drawing line
Lock in direction
Helper pulls dimension, presses button
Designer … presses enter?
Or does hitting enter happen automatically?

Make a video please, showing how it would make modeling site conditions with SKP easier.

It will enter the dimension and then hit enter automatically so easier to do as a solo operation as well and yes, will work on putting a video together in the coming days!
