Dynamic component position issue

Wondering if anyone can help with this issue. I have made a door component that positions itself off a cupboard component. I can copy and paste into another cupboard no problem, but if i save the door into a library, and then retrieve it, my x and y position are not there anymore.

I changed the category to “Dynamic Components” for you.
This increases you chance of a suitable answer.

Thanks

changing the references and assuring uniqueness retains the position values
otherwise the position is overridden due to some ruby code or bug that reacts to any retained definition

Although the DC can be repaired, I would suggest you pursue a model that is scalable and in sync. in your DC the children are independent of the parent, different scales, parts are on different axis, no reuse of base objects. Further suggest use of names, instances, choose reporting… at base level

Repaired DC within a file, select and saveas the object in the file to a DC folder, delete the doors and purge in the file supplied and replace.

I would like to help you build a better model, however you may wish to work within the paradigms you know best.

Hi Philip,

Thank you for your response. I certainly need help with Dynamic components. I tend to try and do a component on the fly as needed, which as you say, my naming and referencing and axis are all over the place. I run a small kitchen company and find doing my cupboards in Sketchup and using OpenCutList is the way to go. With no formal training in SketchUp it has been a learning curve with lots of frustration when components don’t work the way they should. As you noticed, my formulars are also all over as not been too good with excel formulars has been a setback. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
