Dynamic component parametric bicycle

we’re looking to produce a
sketchup pro
parametric
dynamic component
bicycle frame
that adjusts dependent upon parametric input (frame size). The base geometry is that of a standard A frame race bicycle BUT with some tube variation.

we’re looking to use sketchup pro as the definer of size relationship as opposed to fusion 360 - WHY? because sketchup is, in many ways, better/more simple.

Anyone who, preferably, understands bicycle geometry?

Any bright ideas?

Are we insane to consider this route (as opposed to fusion 360)?

has anyone already done this for an A frame?

This sound like this could be a very interesting project … one that SketchUp is well suited for. And as an experienced cyclist … and an experienced developer of SketchUp Dynamic Components … I think I have a good grasp of the task at hand.

Meanwhile, to get things started, a few questions:

What do you envision as the “user inputs” to the Dynamic Component?

And then, after SketchUp Dynamic Component generates a model of the bicycle frame … then what? What do you want to be able to do with the SketchUp model?
… estimate frame weight?
… generate shop drawings of each tube?
… output key dimensions for a frame jig?
… what?

Also, what type of tubing? … steel, aluminum, titanium, carbon fiber, bamboo?

What type of assembly? … lugs, welded joints, epoxy?

And do you already have shop drawings for the bottom bracket, the chain stay dropouts, the headset bearings, the seat post attachment, et cetera?

I’ve created a lot of dynamic components but all of them are for my field, architecture and construction, I’ve also seen some great components made by different people but again all focused on architecture visualization like assets or for woodworking. I’m not sure how you want to build or model the bicycle elements, and what functions you want it to have. What’s the purpose of making them dynamic components? Do you want to animate the bicycle or want to quantify and make reports of the components?
