Dynamic Component Options Does not Work On Mac

Hello everyone,

I’m a new SketchUp user and having trouble activating a dynamic component. When I try to use it, I receive a message that says, “There are no options to choose for this component.” This issue always occurs, even with components I know have a dropdown menu. Does anyone know how to resolve this?

(This window is Marvin window that is a dynamic component.)

I am Running Mac OS Latest version Sequoia 15.0.1
I have SketchUp Pro for students 2024

How did you add it into your model? What happens if you double click on the window with the Select tool?

  1. 3D warehouse
  2. Search - Marvin Windows - under Collections, order by Popularity.
  3. I tried with many windows there choose one of these
  4. Download to model
  5. and then I locate the window in my model.

If I double the window it get inside the editing of the component.

I picked a Mavin Window component and downloaded it from the Warehouse directly into a new model session. This is what I see.

Give the exact model name you downloaded. Or better, upload your SketchUp file containing the window component.

window component.skp (388.0 KB)

Now that I choose the one you show its working. But to with the one I upload that today my professor did edit that

you download a component file not a file with a component in it, so opening and putting the contents of a downloaded file into another leaves the parent shell and options behind.
you should insert the downloaded file into your work, Can drag and drop this from your downloaded folder to your work.
Save or rename or transfer from download to a folder
or
If you wish to amend, make a copy, then after making all parts unique*, then do your changes, then use right click the component and “saveas” to a folder

*Its very important to make all parts unique, to stop cross talk and over writing the attributes
so use extension “deep make unique” works via right click menu, when installed
