Drawing circle

Is there a way to manage the plane of at new object?
I’m trying to draw a circle, but I cant hit the right plane.

Use the cursor keys to set the plane of the circle. Actually, I don’t remember for sure. That may have been added after SketchUp 2018. If so, an alternative in 2018 would be to orbit the camera to convince SketchUp to place the circle in the right orientation or hover over an existing face that is in the desired orientation. Then hold Shift to lock the orientation before moving the cursor to where you want the center of the circle.

I tried that, but it stays in the blue plan. What cursor to use for the green plane?

See my edit, above.

The left cursor key will set the circle to the green plane in versions of SketchUp that support it.

I saw your edit.
The plane is default blue and nothing I do changes that.

Orbit the camera down low or place the cursor on a face that is perpendicular to the green axis.

You need to tap one of the arrow keys before you click the mouse to start to form the circle. Then you can choose the axis to draw the circle on.

That’s in versions newer than the one the OP is using. For circles the cursor locking was added after SketchUp 2018.

thankyou, that works

I have SU 2024 (I updated my profile, so I should show that now)

You told me that didn’t work.

Yes. You should!

Six years and a significant number of posts and you don’t understand one of the very basic fundamentals.
A bit of time at the Campus would help you.

Well, I did go through the tutorials recently, and also checked just before asking this question. I dont find working in SU and LO easy at all.
Is this forum only for users on a certain level? In that case I’m sorry for bothering you -please direct me to the right forum.

I’m not trying to give you a hard time or be rude, just saying that we are all happy to help with problems and issues but sometimes there are things that you really should have picked up along the way, and it makes us question if it is worth answering a more complex question if you haven’t learnt the basics. And Drawing a circle on axis is pretty basic. Plus Dave explained how in the very first reply but you didn’t get it until @Zabobon answered.

Well, @Zabobon just explained it better.
I dont think it is fair to assess my skills by looking a how many years have gone by. I dont use SU regularly, I use it for very different private projects and as an ex-Autocad user it just doesnt come across as logic to me. I rely on help from this forum when I get stuck, and appreciate the help very much, even if you find my questions stupid.

I didn’t say stupid. I said basic and gave you a link to the fundamentals.
If I went to an autocad forum and asked the same question would it not be seen as pretty basic.

Yes I agree on both.
But my point is; you dont want a basic question after 6 years, and I tell you; the answer is helpful to me anyway.

The reason I thought that mentioning that it is necessary to tap the arrow keys before clicking is that I myself found this confusing in Sketchup -

To constrain to an axis when using the Move tool (M) the procedure is to click on an object and then tap one of the arrow keys to constrain.

To constrain to an axis when using the Circle tool (C) the procedure is to tap one of the arrow keys before any click. If you first click to begin to form the circle it is too late to constrain it.

As I first learnt to constrain using the Move tool, for a while I thought the Circle tool couldn’t be constrained as I would click and drag, press and arrow keys and nothing would happen.
