Hi all. I am using the web version of Sketchup and have the following issue:
Finishing adding dimensions to my drawing, saving the file and then opening again leads to error where the labes that suppose to show the value looks like in the attached.
What browser are you using? What is the model of the graphics card and are the graphics drivers up to date?
Hey,
coincidence (?) you’re not the only one with that issue today.
and in the other thread I linked this one
where Dave managed to get the text back by copying everything in a brand new project.
worth trying.
(also, check your browser for updates. you never know.)
This happened to me today as well, but I got called away and when I returned to my computer an hour or so later, the numbers were there! Not sure what happened!
similar experience with web version. I had just done a Download of a project and then went back to reopen the original. all dimensions were blacked out. I minimized the browser window and then maximized it. – all dimensions were back ! (windows/chrome)
If you are referring to labels and dimensions being blocked out when you are making scenes, then I see the same thing. I select the blocked out labels, right click and cut them by using the scissors icon. After that, I right click and click on the paste in place icon and the labels and dimensions return. Then, I press update. After that the scene shows up correctly. If they show up blocked out immediately after making the scene, then all you have to do is hit save and the labels and dimensions return.
I have the same problem as the OP using Chrome. The only scene I use is Plan View. The problem occurs every time the file is saved. The blacked out dimension now occurs with every file I have created when opened. I have to open the files five to ten times before I can get the dimensions to show. I can use the files only until it saves. Tried copying all data to a new file and that works until a save. Tried deleting a dimension and it is the only readable dimension until a save. It impossible to use SketchUp for Web with this problem. What is the fix??
Heya @dlt and folks. This is a known issue that we’re currently investigating.
@tommy_acierno, 100% repeatable and 0% productivity. Any update?
We’ve made good progress, but still need to do some tests.
Is seems to happen any time you click Save or add a Scene after drawing a dimension.
The current work around is to save the model and reload it, which will re-draw the dimensions.
Changing unit precision to heigher (or lower) and back again seems to be faster.
Although dimensions coming back again doesn’t last very long.
I’ve been experiencing this on SketchUp for Web for a couple months. Text grayed out at every save. Changing font and other edits bring it back but tedious and happens again. Exiting the project then reopening it clears it until the next save. The other day, I found that changing the zoom, from the Customize and Control Menu (upper right corner in web browser) instantly corrects it, and is super fast versus other methods I tried.
Exact same observations here, in case it helps. Sketchup Web via Chrome browser on Ubuntu Studio Linux. NVidia GEForce 750 graphics running NVidia proprietary driver 390.157.
Issue should be resolved now.
Please refresh and try again.
Looks good here, at least for saving after adding new dimensions. Tried on two different models. Thanks much, appreciate the fix.
