Creating organic shapes

Hello all,

I’m trying to model something similar to that shown in the image attached (the hedging specifically).

Could someone please advise the best way forward?

The extension Soap Skin Bubble would be appropriate for this…

I’ve downloaded the extension and got the point of creating the skin. I select the newly auto created group and hit bubble but I receive the error message ‘You must select a group created with soap skin’. Once the error message has disappeared, the lines on the face created by the skin tool also disappear. Any ideas where I’m going wrong here please?
