How in God’s name do you create dotted or dashed lines in this program? I’m trying out Sketchup Pro 2021, and I’ve tried everything possible to draw a dotted or dashed line, and nothing works. I create a new tag called dashed and set the line type to a dashed type. I draw a line and assign the tag dashed to it, and its still a solid line. How does it work in Sketchup?

Make sure the style you’re using has Dashes enabled. Edit the style if needed.
Also make sure you use Tags correctly. ALL edges and faces should be created and remain untagged. Only groups and components should get tags so put the edges in a group or component.

Can this be done in Sketchup Make version 17?
Not in the same way. You can divide edges into short segments and either hide or delete alternate ones. I would suggest hiding them make sure they are in a group or component.
Example with Endpoints turned on in the style to show the divisions.
Temporarily turning on endpoints will make it easier to see which edges need to be selected for hiding.
