any top tips or good extensions for converting My drawings ready to be CNC cut.
i have built a Kids play kitchen that is all built from 12mm ply, i have then copied the model and played out each component on the flat, ant good tips to get from this stage to sending file to be cut…
It all depends on what software you already have for your CNC. If you have software that can read dxf files and produce G Code then all you need to do is export 3D dxf files.
If you don’t have software then you will have a lot more work to do. You need to determine what Pre and Post routines you need for your specific CNC machine. You will have to have a reasonably good understanding of G Codes and how to work with them. It also depends on how sophisticated a CNC machine that you have. Do you have a tool changer? What about vacuum hold downs? Is your machine capable of cutting the full 12 mm at a time or do you need to make multiple passes?
at the moment i am just looking at sending files out to be cut…
so want to as mush of the work as possible before sending …
I would normally ask for an example dxf file from the CNC shop…
import it into SU and see how it’s made…

Talk to the shop that you are going to use to cut your ply. They will tell you how to supply your files.
