Hi all, I am new to woodworking and new to sketchup. I downloaded it, and it doesn’t allow me to manually type in dimensions. Any ideas on why or how to fix that?

Are you clicking in the measurements box before you start typing? If so, don’t. Start drawing, let go of the mouse and start typing. If you are drawing a rectangle, look at the measurements box and use the same separator as shown between the length and width of the rectangle.
Start an action, let go of the mouse and type what you want and hit return/enter without trying to click in the measurement box.
