Since the latest upgrade of SU Web, around August 2024, it is not possible to change the name of instances for groups or components.
When will this be fixed ? Does anyone have a workaround ?
hmmm I tried, I’m on a mac using firefox, if it’s unlocked, it’s fine here.
your profile says you’re on windows 10, any chance you have a second browser installed where you can try ?
also, could you download a problematic file and share it here ? so we can check if it’s file related ?
Thanks for helping. It looks like you have the same problem as me. On your video you changed the name of the instance (copie) from “Ty” to “yet I” but it does not save. It goes back to “Ty”. Before, it was possible to rename a copy (instances) of a component with different names. I was using this quite a lot. Looks like it’s broken now
oh yeah, I didn’t notice it, it reverted as soon as I locked it.
(note for future me, don’t do forum stuff during breakfast )
after rechecking, you’re right, as soon as the focus moves away (lock, click away…) it goes back to Ty.
Definition is still fine though.
However, renaming Ty’s copy from the outliner works fine (it’s go / pro only)
@colin has there been an update recently ?
This has been an issue for at least a few weeks now. It’s been reported by others in other threads. Hopefully they will fix it soon. I guess in the meantime the work-around would be to use components and name them correctly when you make them.
This should be fixed now. Reload SketchUp for Web and give it a shot .
Thanks Tommy! Looks like it has been fixed indeed.
Yep, I confirm it is working now. Thanks a lot !
