Sketchup, will it ever be possible to end a process or back out of an operation? Sometimes I accidentally start an intensive operation and I would like to be able to hit the ESC key or some key stroke to just cancel and undo like nothing happened instead of waiting 10 or 15 minutes to be able to then quickly undo,
Given how frequently SketchUp can take a long time to complete an operation, this seems like a reasonable request. It would certainly be better than having to force quit SketchUp.
That said, it would likely be a lot harder to implement than it may seem, especially since many hangs are in extensions, where core SketchUp may have no safe way to intercede.
I agree, it would be great to be able to stop a process that is taking too long. I can’t count how many times I’ve had to Task-Manager-End-Task SU when it got stuck processing something. As a result, I’ve gotten in the habit of saving before any operation I suspect might get locked up.
Understandable. Would it be any easier to provide this functionality just for core tools and commands at least? Or perhaps show a progress bar for operations? Progress bars tend to not be very accurate timewise but it would still be helpful to know if progress is being made or if it is just locked up.
I have become familiar with which operations are reliable and which ones are prone to getting stuck, so usually I know when I should just wait instead of Force Quitting, but not always.
