I would like to use my MacBook Pro as my main computer for small Architectural projects. Here are the specs:
Processor - 2.0GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
L3 cache - 6MB shared
Memory - 8GB
Hard drive6 - 300GB SSD
Graphics - Intel HD Graphics 30005 and AMD Radeon HD 6490M with automatic graphics switching
Graphics memory - 256MB GDDR5
Video - FaceTime HD camera; Thunderbolt port with support for DVI, VGA, dual-link DVI, and HDMI (requires adapters, sold separately)
Display - 15.4-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen display, 1440-by-900 resolution
I do not have a Mac but I run SU on my Win 10 laptop. My biggest concern would be the screen size depending on the complexity of your models. Could be kind of hard to see details (but then you can always zoom). Sometimes I feel that my 17" screen is kind of small. If you have access to an external monitor, all should be good though.
Probably your computer will run SketchUp OK (if Apple has built working OpenGL support into its AMD drivers). Your video memory is on the small side but I have run SketchUp successfully with far less, and it is quite enough for your screen resolution. Your processor outruns the one in my ultrabook, and I am quite happy of its performance with my usually small models.

Thank you Anssi, this is very encouraging news. I will get started right away.
Thank you ntxdave. Very encouraging news. I do plan to run on an external monitor.
