Alright, so…I have an issue.
Consider the following diagram/photos of the ferry:
Do you see where the lifeboat is suspended by the two curved poles? It’s being held by a strap, but if you look closely the strap doesn’t seem to wrap around the lifeboat like it should.
Can anyone point out where the strap goes around the lifeboat and back to the pole(s)? I can’t seem to see this.
I think you’ll find that the strap doesn’t wrap around. I’d say it goes from one davit to the other and is hooked in underneath while all remaining on the inboard side of the boat. This way the davits can be swung out over the side with the strap in place. If it wrapped around the whole thing would twist.

It seems I’m unhealthy.
I collapsed yesterday while out with a friend yesterday and this afternoon I nearly did the exact same thing.
I think I need to shelve this for a day or 3. Going to hospital first thing in the morning.
Well, whatever else happens, you can take some satisfaction in having learned what a davit is before the end.
