Black areas in png export. I think connected to shadows?

I updated my video card to an AMD 6900 XT and now when I export png some shadows show up black…I have tried with fast feedback on and off and same issue… Sometimes it exports good and sometimes not too which is fun… I have the latest video card driver and latest version of windows 11 and Sketchup 2023. Going to try 2024 but I had issues with that crashing on export so I had to stick with 2023.

Are you exporting from SketchUp or LayOut?

Sketchup

What happens if you use LayOut and export the PDF from there?

I don’t use Layout. I use Acad and Sketchup. I import images from Sketchup that I then note up in Autocad. I would love to be able to use Layout but I don’t have time yet to try to get it up to the same speed I can work in cad. I could maybe try but I am trying 2024 right now to see what happens. I know is has a new kind of graphics backend.

I’m just asking what happens if you use LayOut to export the PDF in an attempt to help determine where the problem is. If you don’t want to test that, nevermind.

Yea only Sketchup

So you won’t even try exporting from LayOut to see if you get a different result?

I just exported from 2024 and it works fine. I can try from layout 2023 one sec

yikes its worse in Layout

Exported fine from 2024. I just hope it doesn’ crash

It would be interesting to test the file on another machine with another graphics card but since you can export from SU2024 successfully I guess you’re all set.

It worked fine before on the same machine with my other graphics card.

So clearly an issue with the graphics card. There have been other reports of issues with AMD graphics cards. Did you install their latest drivers for the card after installing it? Might be worth keeping an eye on graphics driver updates from the maker and check to see if you get the same results after updating the drivers.

Yes latest driver. I also have an audio glitch with the card too. Maybe they have a beta driver version. Seems at least that the DirectX12 in Sketchup 2024 is playing nicer with it.

I just realized there are PRO drivers for my card. I was using gaming Adrenaline drivers. I just exported a couple shots and it seems fine with the new drivers. A bit slower than my old card but worked. I am going to stick with 2024. No crashes yet on export like with my older card.

It’s the same with Nvidia drivers, they have game-ready drivers and studio drivers which are more suitable for 3D modelling…
