Batch adding components to scenes

Hello all,

I have 1500 + models to render and I’m hoping there is some type of automation/extension/plugin that would help me.

These models are all relatively the same size and will all use the same material, lighting and view. I’m just looking for a way to place each model in the same spot but each have it’s own scene named by it’s filename so I can batch render with V-ray.

Doing this individually will obviously take a very long time. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The products/models will all be imported from STL’s/3d DWG’s.

I’m using Sketchup Studio 25.0.660

PC: VENGEANCE i7500 Gaming PC: Intel Core i9-14900K, NVIDIA RTX 4090, 64GB DDR5 6000MT/s Memory, 2TB NVMe SSD

This indicates to me that each object will require some manual attention once imported into SketchUp before it will be suitable for rendering.

You could set up a template with a number of scenes and tags along with your V-ray lights and background. Each scene would be set up to show a different tag. Establish a workflow that includes applying a tag to the imported object.

I would not try to include all 1500+ objects in a single scene. Instead I would split them out into maybe 10 or so per SketchUp file to reduce the damage if a file goes pear-shaped.

Please update your forum profile. It’s extremely out of date.

Thanks for the quick reply Dave. I guess I was hoping for some magical plugin that did part of the work for me.

I may need to outsource the job because I have too many other fires burning.:face_exhaling:

From the many .stl and other imported files I’ve seen, I think the major part of the work will be fixing up the objects so they are presentable. With a suitable template the rest of it is trivial in comparison.

This is very interesting. Thanks, I will check it out.
