Basic help needed please

Geoff,

Can you resaw your thicker timbers? Have you got a bandsaw that could do that?

Dave,
Unfortunately no, a bandsaw is on my wish list

Well, a new project justifies a new tool, right?
So I made a little modification to the bench by adding another long rail. And then to illustrate the material usage, I drew out the timbers you have and aligned copies of the components. Those intermediate stretchers will come out of a piece of the long rail stock. You’ll have enough left over for some other project.

Dave
can you please explain how the legs are made / joined etc

Geoff

I drew them as mitered. If you want invisible joinery, you could use dowels and epoxy to join them or you could use mortise and tenon. Or, if you want, long lag screws in from the top in counterbores that are then plugged.

Thanks again
I think for my skills I will use the lag screws, would you happen to have the .skp file available ?
