See @Tomsk original post. I am wanting to clean up the mess of backup files a folder. By pointing .skb and backup of .layout files to a file location other than the same folder as the SU/LO file.

The corruption of files seems to be due to people trying to work on files directly saved to the cloud and the instability of the connections. Trimble Connect eliminates that issue.
Like I said, SU/LO needs to play nice with the rest of the cloud world, like many other software programs do.
Like I wrote, it doesn’t seem to be SU and LO. It’s inconsistencies in the internet connection to the network.
It is SU/LO’s problem when it isn’t a problem with software from Autodesk, Adobe, etc.
Hi Dave, I’m losing my mind because I can’t find ANY autosaved projects anywhere. I lost a day’s work from a SketchUp crash, and there is no 'Recovered Files" I can navigate to. I only use a local drive to store projects as documents, no cloud usage for me. Can you explain how I might be able to use Trimble Connect to try and recover at least some of the work? SU Pro 2024 on 2015 MacBook Pro
You can recover from Trimble connect only if you’ve been saving it there, if you’ve been saving only in your local drive, there won’t be anything in your Trimble connect account.
The autosave files are temporary files in case you have a crash and you haven’t saved before it happens.
Where did you look? What about the backup copy that should be created in the same folder as your working file?
You cannot use Trimble Connect to recover files that are already unrecoverable. Use it as another place to save files while you are working on them to give you an additional backup copy that isn’t saved in the same location.
Based on other forum members queries,I copy/pasted this into “Go To…” in Finder on my Mac:
~/Library/Application Support/SketchUp 2024/working/SKETCHUP/RecoveredFiles
Nothing happens. If I change 2024 to 2023 it takes me to Recovered Files, and there is one project only in there from 2023 (I don’t recall running into any problems, or “losing” that file at the time). The thing that sticks out to me is that there is a saved version of that project timestamped at exactly the time the SU crash occurred, which I cross-checked on the crash report in “Console”. But that version is the one that I started on at the outset (so before I did the 4 or 5 hours of work on it). Even though I have the AutoSave engaged and left at the default 5 minute intervals.
I’m bewildered and kinda steamed that I have to do all that work over again. Basically I am now working for free (read: losing money) as it was a set-price job.
p.s. I also always have an external drive plugged in and backing up to Time Machine, there is no AutoSaves folder in there either
Same: no .skb, no recovered files, lots of crashing, autosaving every 5 minutes on MacBook, pasted the path and nothing happened. Also working for free, and have been, off and on. Anyone have any other ideas?
