Always the same extensions on the first page!

A new home page has been made with always the same extensions on the first page!
I understand the “Top Extensions” category but not the “Featured Extensions” category.

On which statistics are the list of extensions highlighted?

Especially since this category of extensions has not moved for 2 years which pushes them by niche effect towards the “Top Extensions” category.

I find this unfair for other developers who will have no chance with this method of seeing their extensions propelled to the first page.

Possible solution:
A list of the latest published extensions would be much fairer by keeping the most downloaded every 30 days.
This would encourage developers to make good extensions to earn the right to stay on the first page.
Automatically scrolling other extensions after the page loads would also be a good option.

Please consider this request to keep your extension developers.

What extensions have you shared in the Extension Warehouse?

Thanks for sharing your dezmo link but the topic is from 2020 and the same problems you raised have still not been resolved.

DaveR This is a question for the collective interest and not personal.
So you giving the list of my extensions will not change anything to the underlying problem.

I think that’s the point he was trying to make

The question is whether anyone on the SketchUp team can tell us whether the selection of extensions featured on the front page will be reviewed in the near future.

I agree that the fact that for more than 4 years it’s almost always the same extensions are highlighted without explanation is unfair. For my part, the 2020 EW relooking reduced the number of visits to my extensions by more than a factor of 5 … Fortunately, I’m not financially dependent on this activity.

It’s also worth pointing out that the order of appearance of extensions “by relevance” remains mysterious, and that the dropdown list doesn’t allow selection by update date.

But let’s be optimistic and see the glass as half full. The number of downloads has reappeared, which is more relevant than the number of views. Above all, the date of the first version of the extension, which was in the header of the extension presentation, has been removed. This was a flaw that gave the impression that the extension hadn’t been maintained for years. And the date of the latest version is now visible :+1:.

I just thought of a solution that seems good to me and that could suit everyone!

As we are less and less authors to develop extensions for SketchUp, each developer has the right to choose a single extension to display on the first page.

If too many of us want to use this option, developers with the oldest extensions will be downgraded.

What do you think?
