I don’t know what I have done / activated, but my 3D text now translates anything I type into rectangles. I cannot make it keep the text I write in the text box. As soon as I click ok to place it, the letters turn into rectangles. Any idea how to “reset” this?

Can you show us what you’re working with? What font, how tall, how much extrusion? Maybe you can share an example .skp that shows what you are seeing.
OMG. I just went to take a screen shot of the problem (no extrusion, Arial 12pt), and all of a sudden it works! After months of rectangles! Completely unexplainable and I am not counting my lucky stars yet as the problem may revert. If it does, I will repost!

3D text isn’t specified in point size. It uses model units for the height. Are you sure you were using 3D Text?
