3D Basecamp 2020: Call for speakers

I’m not sure I understand the question. I don’t know yet if I’m going to give a presentation, if I do I don’t think it’s up to me to decide who is allowed to see it, and if it woreI would never discriminate based on nationality or origin.

Thank you @MikeWayzovski for submitting .
It seems very nice to be able to present at the 3D Basecamp 2020 about SketchUp Pro and the BIM working method.

I think this topic is also largely related to SketchUp Talk:

Yes, we all know that AD marketing machines made us believe that bim equals revit . That is why we need to show what the true intention of BIM is.

You can not expect that the whole staff of a contracting company can handle Revit, but they could easily place some (ready made, Dynamic ) components in SketchUp to show how the containers are placed or were the next shipload needs to go on the yard.

There are many small companies as well, who get hired by larger ones to get the job done.,
They don’t need Helix (or Revit)

SketchUp could fill that gap

If anyone stumbles upon this thread looking to submit a presentation for 3DBC2020, we have a new form for this now… cruise on over to this post from Aaron → Presenters needed for 3D Basecamp 2020

We already have some session ideas floating in; we’re looking forward to seeing more!

I’ve thought about submitting to do a presentation but I think it would quickly devolve into basically a demonstration of my plugins and that information is already widely available via YouTube (tutorial videos I’ve already created).

I really don’t want to be accused of tooting my own horn and I think that base camp presentations should be reserved for bringing truly groundbreaking or new concepts to the forefront.

If I had some of the integrated engineering up and running within the plugins that would be something I would like to talk about length but unfortunately I am just not that far along yet.

Hey @medeek, that’s the kind of uncertainty that our planning team is happy to evaluate. Please still submit your ideas via that form from @TheOnlyAaron’s post and we’ll take a look and offer up some thoughts to you.

Let’s invite (some) of the guys from DigiBase for a quick and dry Trimble Connect demo:

I’ve been o plenty of sessions that were basically developers/publishers showcasing their products. Even if I generally prefer sessions based on workflows or ways of using SketchUp I haven’t seen before, I still think it is worth a shot.

We would love to present/demo/workshop our workflows with Connect, SketchUp, IFC, BIM, Point Clouds etc.

We will present during the Basecamp in the Netherlands this December. Below the summary of what we have planned to present.

Regards,
Stijn
BIM process manager VolkerWessels / DigiBase

Key Note title:

Easy BIM for ‘Not-BIM-specialists’

Key Note explanation:

An use case about an innovative contractors work environment where; Job Site Managers and Cost Estimators are BIM modellers, paperless construction sites are upcoming, 3D city models are generated automatically, and clients virtually walk through their digital buildings during design sessions and afterwards take the designs home on their mobile devices.

Workshop title:

Discover powerful use cases with Trimble Connect and SketchUp

Workshop explanation:

We show several powerful use cases of Trimble Connect in combination with SketchUp: Discover how to combine different data formats and share all this information with clients, learn to look at project data on your mobile device, explore how you connect documents to 3D models, and many many more.

Hi @StijnVanSchaijk, please submit your proposal for 3D Basecamp here.

This is great! BIM is the only think lacking in our architectural workflow as we really didn’t have a need for it up until now.

Knowing that there are people already driving that road in such an advanced state is great and I really hope I don’t have to switch software when my time comes.

I’ve been thinking on what I could show on a Basecamp presentation.

We work very efficiently with Sketchup+Layout+Thea+Photogrammetry (Or photobased modelling for refurbishments) for all stages of the process, with very low budgets and have slowly been increasing the scale of our projects too. We will need BIM in the future as we can’t run away from it, but basically what we do is that we have a great free modelling workflow that is very well complemented with a 2D drafting workflow all inside sketchup. This allows us great design freedom and incredible accuracy in detail, while communicating easily with everyone around a project and we do it all in Sketchup.

However, I do think there are a lot of people that do that already so it’s not as interesting as your BIM approach.

EDIT:

It’s great to know @brewsky is working with you. I remember a plugin he did a few years ago, published on Sketchucation, for a BIM approach modelling that was very promising and we exchanged a lot of input. Regards!

YEs!! 100% agree

I did submit my proposal for a presentation but I haven’t heard back.

P.S. My proposal was on integrated engineering with my plugins, a little bit off the beaten path. Rather than just talk about current features of my plugins I want to push the envelope slightly and see if we can take SketchUp even further. Perhaps my ideas are a step too far though, who would have thought you can take a simple 3D drawing program and build so much capability into it. I will soon be introducing some engineering features into the Wall plugin which are going to make things very interesting and very exciting.

Same here. I’m fine not presenting but I need to know.

I checked with Josh, and he mentioned that he had included this link in this topic:

I think that Aaron will know what stage we’re at.

I was told I was presenting a couple months ago, but the email conversation has gone cold lately. I need to start shaping the talk soon.
