Used SketchUp free about 15 years ago . Bought SketchUp Go about a week ago found it cumbersome probably because of the iPad compatibility.
I have CAD experience but quite a while ago so I just upgraded to SketchUp Pro.
One of the things I immediately noticed when trying to work with SketchUp Go is that there’s a ton of people out there talking about SketchUp, but some of it’s three to five years old or focus on one version or the other one platform or the other.
I did an initial search for “best SketchUp Pro tutorial” however there were answers from 2022 and other questions asking the same thing. Without a clear answer, just the proverbial answer “depends on what you want to do”.
If you haven’t read my profile I am a hobby user with some experience and would like to use it for personal reasons without starting on the wrong foot and wasting time and eliminating frustration. How’s that?
Will someone kindly point me to comprehensive tutorial program (including lessons in order) that is current and focuses on Windows SketchUp Pro?
Thank you in advance for your help, I will certainly try to help here once I have some accurate knowledge.
Thanks for the reply.
Believe it or not I’ve already tried that. A bunch of random people some good some bad. Some old some newer. I want something that I can follow through the whole thing. I looked up at SketchUp school but not sure if that would be a recommendation from this community
and in most cases, mac vs pc isn’t that different. you’ll often find videos that will tell you when they work / look different. but beyod a handfull of things, they’re the same.
the only “issue” in watching older tutorials is that they’ll lack some recent quality of life upgrades or even newer tools. but they’re still solid, especially as a beginner. once you learn the core, it’s simpler to expand.
any specific hobby field ? building a geodome greenhouse, modelling a boat, or a robot, a cookie, a table, your house…?
once you’re confortable with the basics, you can expand in the various fields you plan on hobbying into. many of us have diverse uses of sketchup, pro or not
No limitations. Plan view floor plan, 3D architecture, any kind of industrial design engineering simulation, if I had to say a focus I would say 3D industrial designs and architectural walkthroughs
