It used to be that when we clicked “Colors” under Materials that M00 (White) was the first color to appear. Now we have to scroll to the bottom and look for white. Is there a way to change the name or order so that white is the first color to appear when we select Colors in the Material Tray?I know we can make our own collection, but creatures of habit we are and this is just a new aggravation. Any advice?
-
Copy the 2015 “Colors” folder to a temporary place.
-
Rename it something like “MyColors”. (It serves no purpose for you to have it named “Colors” as it is likely to get overridden during updates.)
-
Drag the renamed folder into the 2016 Materials folder.
(See TIG’s post below for the location of 'Materials
" folders in SketchUp 2017 and higher.) -
Restart SketchUp.
You should now see the “MyColors” collection, with the old color names beginning with “Color_000” (White).
Thank you! Great quick fix!
Update on the same question - We updated to 2017 and I tried to go this route to get the 2015 Colors imbedded in the materials but am not finding a Materials folder in the Sketchup 2017 program files. Do you happen to know where it’s hiding?
It’s now moved to:
C:\ProgramData\SketchUp\SketchUp 2017\SketchUp\Materials
This location contains the ‘shipped’ folders of things - like Styles…
Your own folders are:
C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2017\SketchUp\Materials
and there are similar subfolder here for your own subfolders like Styles and Plugins…
See TIG’s answer above.
