Yacht competition tips

Hello,

I am an interior architecture student in England and I am going to enter a yacht competition. I was wondering whether you can give me some tips or drawings of basic dimensions for yachts as my idea is to model it in SketchUp and then render in Lumion as usual, but my experience is with buildings, so any extensions suggestions and tips for modelling will be greatly appreciated.

Sail or motor yacht?
Only the hull or full rig?
Preferably manually or with extention?

One can learn quite a bit about modeling techniques by examining models built by others.
This example was built without using plugins.
