Trying to add a slope to a model

Hey there, fairly new to sketchup - I am a landscape designer.

I have a model created that needs a slight slope upwards from the street to the pathway above the house being rougly 3 ft higher, ive attached the file.

Cant figure out how to execute this… I may have to recreate the model - but would love any advice. I have tagged everything and grouped them all together as well, so it should be easy enough to figure out what’s what. Thanks!

A simple way would be to make the ground objects 3D and make sure they are solid.

Then draw a cutter that passes through at the correct angle.

Use Subtract from the native Solid Tools to subtract the cutter from the terrain levaing the sloped terrain geometry.

do the same sort of thing for the sloped portion of the driveway.

Before you do anything more to your model you should fix incorrect tag usage. You should be leaving Untagged active at all times. Pencil icon remains at Untagged. You have not done that in this model.

All edges and faces should be created and remain untagged. Here’s the result of fixing that in your model.

Only groups and components are given tags. This workflow will make things better and there’ll be no need to chase active tags.

It might be that if you use the Add Location feature you can get 3D terrain with the slope in it already.

Thanks for your reply, I went ahead and set everything back to untagged and grouped them and tagged the groups as you suggested…

This looks like it should work, I will try and do as you’ve instructed, I was curious how you made the curved lawn area shape into 3D with minimal lines use?

If i use the add location feature would i need to just redraw everything? Or is it more complicated than simply drawing on the sloped plane?

After using Push/Pull to extrude the faces to 3D I selected all of the geometry in both volumes right clicked on one and chose Soften/Smooth Edges from the Context menu.

Probably you’d only need to draw the house volume but you could just use the imagery and terrain for the ground and design your garden features to fit.
