Seats done in quadfaces for subd - the ‘passenger’ seat is smaller to save weight - the car must have 2 seats according to the Reglement.
Front suspension design started, upper wishbones done incl. Steering.

Spaceframe design work.
Most of the tubes are positioned.
I have to figure out another shape to replicate the welds.
Cheers Torsten.
Nice.
You could do welds with texturing apps like substance painter:
“rolling chassis” progess so far.
meanwhile i reworked and adjusted the car body with the help of new pictures and Vertex-Tools and Quadface-tools - makes the work much easier.
front: new body - rear old body
Subd applied on body and tires.
Photo of a real car - gives a good view about the size of the car.

Designing brake disk.
2 segments with holes and ‘quadfaced’ - green color indicates all faces are quads.
Next reply will show the caliper design progress.

A step back and redraw the brake disk

Ho ho ho - merry christmas
This is going really well keep it up, I’d love to try and render it when you are done if that’s acceptable!
Have a good Christmas!
New year starts with some redesign work. I found some very useful and also large detail pics of the engine and decided to redraw the main parts of my engine design.
I split the main engine body in 3 sections for more flexibility of using quads and subd.
Middle section
Front section
Rear section
The sections contains different groups and components - most of them already made with quads.
Now i can subdivide each single part and do not need tons of lines to get them aligned as quads.

Hi @tengel07
Absolutely brilliant work!
Apologies, but if I could just ask a quick question about the use of SubD.
How do you make sure that the component is the correct final size after running SubD? For example, when you did the Brake Disks, how do you make sure they are the correct diameter when SubD has finished?
Kind regards
Mike
Hi @MichaelSiggers,
i did inital some testings with subd to get the scale factors for the proxy geometry.

Good point - thats now part of my workflow - thanks for the tip.
Thank you Torsten for the explanation.
Really appreciated.
