If you reply to a specific post (like this post), you can follow the link to the answered post, but if you reply to the topic, this connection is lost. I agree that it is more transparent if you don’t have to elsewhere to see the question to the answer though.
I would say my argument about least astonishment applies universally. However I’d be glad if Aaron could fix it locally for this forum too.
I will touch base with @jody about this today,
Thanks @sam and @HAWK for jumping in with whats, whys and bug fixes.
I don’t see this being a problem, either way, we never had a complaint about duplicate text so it’s so rare I’m not worried about turning it off. To be clear, this wasn’t’ done with malice nor was it done as an attack on any person… this is merely a feature implemented by the folks at Discourse to help keep conversations as clear as possible, that’s the whole point of this platform and why elected to use them.
I’ll make the change (thanks again @sam for telling me where) to revert… trying to make a point to remember how to re-enable it if turns out a feature we need for keeping the forum clear.
I do vote for this as feature request to Discourse. @sam is there a Meta thread that you’re aware of in the greater Discourse community where this might be discussed?
I am not aware of any dedicated topic for discussing the feature request of gating it by trust level, go ahead and post this as a dedicated feature request on Meta
You mean to tell us that you ARE literate ?
Well I’m glad that you at least have knowledge about that!
Seriously: thanks for the exceptional help you provide and the thoroughness of your explanations!!
