SU 2025 - when pointcloud is loaded (with TSE) - no fbx export option available

I’m testing Trimble Scan Essentials and just noticed, if a pointcloud is loaded, there is no fbx export option available anymore. If I open the same file but I don’t load the pointcloud, the fbx export option is available again. See pic for the menu when it isn’t.

FBX also appears when exporting, having loaded a point cloud. SU2025

Thats weird? Why doesn’t it show in my project…?!

Have you installed the latest versions of SketchUp (25.0.575) and TSE (1.2024.1104)?

Just updated SU to that version 25.0.575 and TSE was already on 1.2024.1104. Same issue. Very strange. Maybe something related because I’m running a trial version of TSE (ends tomorrow)?! Will post again once I find some logic/solution

Maybe @Jacques can shed some light on this (FBX missing). Thanks!

Thanks for reporting. We will investigate.

Hello,
After some investigation I was able to reproduce the loss of FBX export.
For me it occured in one case :
Starting SU, opening a project (linked to a PC) from the Recent files from the Home window and then accept the “loading” of the PC when the file opens.

If I start SU from a new template and then open a project with a PC after, the FBX export is there
If I open a project linked to a PC from the home page, but refuse to load the linked PC, and then load it after from the PC manager, the FBX export is there

Could you confirm that you have the same behavior ?

So obviously there is indeed an issue, but only when directly opening a point cloud while opening SU.
Thank you for the feedback we will work on this. (nice pick by the way^^)

Regards

@yannick_SU Thanks for investigating. From these 3 scenario’s, the second doesn’t work for me - no fbx available. The last option is a nice workaround until its fixed. Thanks for that one.

My guess is that, somehow, the list of exports is created when opening SU. If you use the first scenario (and load a PC at start) then FBX is gone, and at this point it will not be back whatever you are doing, until you restart SU.
I have to say this is really weird as I don’t see a reason why loading a PC would interfer with the export list, but I hope Devs will have an answer.
Anyway, if there is a workaround for you that is fine for now.

We indeed have to fix this. Thank you again.
