The design is closing on ten years which is kinda insane, forgot I made the feet bigger after rigging it way back then. It’d probably need a redesign to make it fully functional.
That’s canonically how the world is, it gives some leeway for the more structurally dubious mega machines.
Feet can be small-ish as long as the materials or mechanics are strong enough for energy rebound, with bipeds stability is a problem so bigger is usually better.
I was researching kinematics at the time and was planning things out in Layout, but It’s more on the videogame side of things since real life really doesn’t balance things out so evenly.
Going way off topic though, believe me you’re doing better than I was in a comparable timeframe, everyone manifests at different times and gitting gud is a life long process.
The way I deal with not comparing myself to others is staying tangential, comparing only feels bad when you’re competing with them.
If you do have to compete though, turn your jealousy into envy and use it as fuel. My brother is the one who introduced me to Sketchup, and keeping up with him is what drove me to improve in the first few years. It does kinda suck at first but things get better.
Well, you were so wrong. I don’t envy anyone and I don’t compete with anyone here. I can only envy you the free time you spent on these models, as long as it’s a hobby and not a paid job, I even congratulated you on a great job so I don’t know where this judgment comes from? But I see that here many people perceive, for example, showing a different way to solve a problem as personal. Well, I will not change that, In this case I wrote what caught my eye right away, Maybe because I have a long past behind me and I designed many things and I know that this small detail would cause big problems in the real world. And unfortunately, this cannot be explained by the lower gravity on their planet. Gravity, center of gravity and fulcrum are physical concepts. The balance of the system is affected by gravity, but much less than the center of gravity and the fulcrum. If the center of gravity exceeds the fulcrum, then unfortunately I will fall. When I’m on the moon I’ll fall longer, I’ll have a smaller bump, but I’ll fall inevitably. So… If you were offended, sorry, it wasn’t my intention
I wish you many more beautiful models
Once again, great job!
Not offended at all I agreed with you and have already fixed the problem. Lower gravity would give the machine more time for dynamic balance and could enable smaller feet, but I’m aware it wouldn’t help much with mass redirection. I was referring to other larger machines that would structurally have a greater benefit from lowered gravity.
I was also referring to @Saul about the envy part, I apologize if the meaning was garbled if you’re using a translator.
“This is not the design shootout I had in mind!” - good comic idea
