Not really, I have the 2016 pro version and can just keep using it as long as I want. I think that option is still available but not sure. You do not expect your car to be upgraded every year for free so I do not know why you would expect that from software.
I do not know why you feel abused. You are free to draft by hand if you prefer and sketchup is still fairly cheap. There is always going to be the problem of being tied into a particular process. In my case I started with Softplan because early on they had some leading innovation but through the past decade they have had a management problem that seems determined to run the company into the ground,
But I understand that this sort of thing can happen with any company. Personally I think Software gets to a certain size and then just maintaining it gets to be a huge job on itβs own. And this is why improvements start to come slowly. Seems that way in all the programs I use that every new upgrade is less compelling than the last.
