the thing is Angus, ALL the point you’re listing are already possible with an ipad using sketchup for ipad. already. so I don’t think trimble is missing your list of wants on ipad since it’s already working
no, there are 4 versions :
Pro, that you download on a computer
web, that you use in a browser. you can try to use it in your tablet or phone browser, but it’s not great
ipad, that you can us on… an ipad, to design, create, scan draw out ideas in 3d, all the things you’re listing.
mobile, it’s simply a viewer for iphone . no modelling, only looking.
The discussion here is about the iphone version, the one only for looking at models, because we’d like for it to be able to scan as well.
the ipad version can already scan, it’s not an issue. but people are more likely to have an iphone than an ipad, and to carry it around with them.
no. it’s in the app store. you have to download it from there and log in normally.
I totally agree. The ability to quickly and effectively scan an environment if at the very least to enable you place your design in context.
Most people have an iPhone or similar lidar enabled device.
Please add this feature.
So any movement on this subject?
I just bought a new Iphone pro 16 for the lidar camera and hoping that the scan to design was going to make it onto it.
We just bought the Room(Scan) app in the Apple App Store and it worked amazingly well, multiple rooms, straight out of the box! $4.99. Yes it’s not inside SketchUp but a good band aid while Trimble waits to hire a programmer that works with iPhones.
That’s all the standard Apple roomkit stuff - there are a bunch of free apps that will do that.
SketchUp uses Canvas (which uses that) hence no scan to design for android.
The Roomplan function on “3D scanner app” (which is free and amazing)
or Polycam (which has a free option with GLTF export)
Are both fairly well known examples that are useful if you are iPhone only.
