is there a way to resize the text of a label with out the connected arrow to go out of whack?
Just change the font size. Select the label, go to Window>Fonts and change the size.
And if you want to apply the style to more labels, you can sample it and “paint” other labels.
Or select the label (or group of them) and click Ctrl++ / Ctrl+-
