New Plugins - VisiShadow- Geometry Shadows and MagicMesh for Soap and Bubble lovers

Hi All - 2 x Extensions MagicMesh and VisiShadow– probably like many of you i Love Soap and Bubble - great plugin but i always find it a little bit finnicky about the boundaries and sometime a little bit unpredictable with the way it operates - it sometime just hangs or the text gets left on the screen. Anyway i thought i’d create a new plugin that tries to allow a user to create a boundary and fill it with a mesh. This plugin called MagicMesh allows a user to Firstly check if a mesh needs fixing first - i’ve created a Path Edit tool which (included with this extension) simplifies removing orphan lines or complete incomplete boundaries . Then once you have a boundary you can set the boundary (so you don’t have to keep selecting that boundary). There are a number of controls to create the mesh - you can set whether it is a dome or bowl, how steep the dome or bowl is and mesh complexity, z point for drawing.

VisiShadow. This extension is for a specific use case for me where i would need to do Shadow Reports for council submissions (in Australia) firstly to get percentages and compliance with councils need for 3 hours of sunshone of 50% or more on private open space which often required manual tracing of shadows on surfaces (Ugghhh) but sometimes the shadows created were underneath the building and therefore i was unable to show the area with shadows across the surface. This tool allows rectangles and polygons to be drawn on flat or terrained surfaces. These hot areas can then have sun shadow simulations run and the shadows are rendered to geometry which allows the buildings to be hidden and the shadow images to be shown. The plugin also provide a summary of percenatges and hours of compliant sunlight. This can also be exported into CSV format. Multiple areas, multiple times of the year and various resiltuion of time can be perfomed - it also creates temporary Group Tags so the geometry can be shown in Layout. I think the areas persist across files which means so long as the extension is present you can load the file up with the VisiShadow areas active. Email me directly for info on these extensions visit site for more.

I can’t open the link

Can you post a link to the Extension Warehouse page this extension?

I don’t think it’s in EW. I fixed the link to the web page.

I can’t figure out how to find the rbz  it’s not in the EW, and I can’t find it on the page.

Maybe try emailing:

oh right, I stopped mid paragraph, I already have a shadow tool and I don’t use it…

I was reacting the instructions provided on the website. But perhaps there is no extension after all. Oh well. Onto other things!

Good point. I don’t see them in the review queue either.

Hi All - i had a few issues uploading new extensions - i’m working on that today. I’ll post in this feed when its done. Can i ask who is running Windows and who is running Mac?

Around 20-30% of users are on Mac. 70-80% run Windows. There are five people on this forum making Linux work.
