These are just some thoughts on details for rendering in general.
Thanks for that. I also use Fredo’s edge tools. I really need to have a plywood edge taping on each board. I can’t seem to find one anywhere.
Are you edge banding the plywood? Or are you referring to showing the plies of the plywood something like I’ve done here?
In this case i want to show the layers of the plywood.
i can’t seem to find the right sort of texture anywhere.
You could make one.
Wouldn’t it look a lot more realistic if it was a photo texture
Yeah but it’s such a small detail no one will really see it that well anyway. If you want a photo texture, take a picture of the edge of some plywood and use that.
there are a couple here:
But as Dave says, unless it’s seen real close up you could make one with simple stripes of color.
Here is one of my models.
I don’t think it uploaded?
It won’t for some reason. It says its uploading then doesn’t show.
How about uploading the SKP file instead of an image?
The idea was to show the finished result
I see. Is that acceptable?
Yep. I’m happy with it
Excellent, then. That’s what’s important.
Cool. Clearly rendering, lighting etc. are a subjective endeavor and its good that you got to achieve the results you wanted.
My only input as far as the model is concerned is that you should use more facets for your circles/curves to eliminate the faceted curves. In your model this is also accentuated a little more by a dark line running across your plywood edge. I think you could edit that end grain image so its seamless and the revised texture can update itself in sketchup when you point to the revised material in the material/edit/browse for image.
Thanks for posting.
