Need a little help with arcs and pull up tool please

Ok I printed this. It is very much improved over what I have but the line is still there. This is designed as texture to be pressed into soft materials so any imperfections will show up. That’s why this line must be eliminated.
Seems to me there should be a way to draw a continuous wavy line without having any joining lines.
I sure have learned a lot in 2 days!

How many times do we have to tell you? The lines cannot be removed. In SketchUp curves are represented by short line segments and curved surfaces by small FLAT faces. @TDahl explained this very clearly. If you can’t manage with the way SketchUp draws the curves, you’ll need to find a different application to do the modeling.

Or maybe you need to plan on some handwork to smooth the surfaces.

As @DaveR mentioned earlier you can use a bezier curve tool.

Also if you are having problem with the number of segments it sounds like you are working too small and The Dave Method would help.

Ahh, you must be running a fairly new version of SketchUp (I didn’t check your profile, sorry) which limits the number of segments in curves to try and avoid degenerate tiny edges.

You can work around this by using the “Dave” method described by @DaveR which involves:

  1. Put the geometry into a component.

  2. Make a copy of the component (e.g., activate the Move tool, click on and start to drag the original component instance, then press Option or Alt to create a separate copy, then click to place the new copy somewhere).

  3. Use the Scale tool to enlarge the component copy by 100X or so.

  4. Double-click the huge copy to edit it, and set the number of arc segments in there.

  5. Exit the editing context of the huge copy (e.g., press Escape), and delete that huge copy.

The result should be that the original instance of the component now has some very small geometry - smaller than SketchUp will allow you to create directly but which can be created at a larger scale.

The Bezier curve I used in redrawing the wave has 96 segments. But that’s not smooth enough for you?

Thanks again everyone. Bezier curves are the way to go.
I redrew from scratch and did a quick test print. No joining lines in a bezier curve.
I also incorporated several other techniques and tips from everyone that responded.
Thanks for the help and setting me straight about SketchUp.
Much appreciated.

Not in a true curve, but once you’ve drawn it in SketchUp it will be a series of straight lines as everyone has already said.

Yes I understand that now
No curves in SketchUp.
