Medeek Truss

Version 3.1.2 - 02.15.2022

  • Enabled MPC wood blocking panels for common trusses.

If your heel height exceeds 15" and you have selected “Vertical” heel blocking as your orientation, then rather than solid blocks the plugin will now insert MPC blocking panels instead.

I still need to enable heel blocking and blocking panels for various other truss types and also make this available for rafter roofs as well.

First look at blown-in insulation for a common truss roof. I will also be adding the option for batts as well:

If you have any suggestions or thoughts on the matter feel free to chime in.

With the blown-in insulation I am just planning on modeling the insulation as one large solid, however with the batts I will separate the insulation into separate groups (solids).

What if I want Rockwool batts or spray foam in the rafter bays to make my attic a conditioned space?

So what I have shown so far is the insulation for a common truss roof.

Insulation for an attic truss roof or a rafter roof will have to be a bit more complicated and with additional options/configurations. I will be splitting things into ceiling insulation and rafter insulation, both will be independent of each other and fully configurable.

Attic trusses are probably the most complicated since you will want to insulate the full ceiling/floor, also the ceiling of the attic space and then the walls of the attic space as well.

Lovely! The combination of this and the up-and-coming floor plugin is going to be marvelous!

Version 3.1.6 - 06.05.2022

  • Enabled ceiling insulation for common trusses: Batt, Blown-in.
  • Enabled ceiling insulation for monopitch trusses: Batt, Blown-in.
  • Added an insulation layer in the global settings.

I still have a lot of work with regards to insulation and numerous other truss types and rafter roofs.

I’ve previously posted this on the Wall Plugin thread however I think it needs to be made clear here as well, since I continue to get this same question asked

Most Common Licensing Question - Why do I have to renew a Permanent License?

I actually get asked this question quite a bit lately and usually it is a very angry or frustrated customer I am dealing with, so I think it is worth my time to clarify this subject and hopefully help everyone better understand what is meant by renewing a permanent license.

At first glance it would seem oxymoronic that one would need to “renew” anything that is “permanent” however it does make more sense when you fully understand how the permanent licensing system of the Medeek plugins work.

When you purchase a permanent license of any of the plugins you are given a serial number and a “License Update Expiration Date”. The expiration date indicates which versions of the plugin you are allowed to operate with your current license/serial number. One will quickly note that the exp. date is usually one year out from the purchase date. This means that your license will work with any versions of the plugin that are released up to or prior to this date.

Effectively what this means is that when you purchase a permanent license you have free upgrades for a year from the date of purchase. Once this date has passed any future updates/versions of the plugins will not work with your license. To enable your license to work with versions released after your license has “expired” you simply need to “renew” it for another year. This will then push your “Update Exp. Date” out another year, giving you another full year of potential upgrades.

One can also renew at any interval they choose, there is no requirement to renew as soon as your license exp. date is reached. You may choose to renew and upgrade two or three or even five years down the road from the date of your original purchase.

There is also no requirement to renew your license(s) or update to the latest version of the plugins if you so choose. You can download the latest versions of the plugins when you originally purchase them and use them that way forever. Permanent basically means that the currently license plugins will continue to work forever (unlike a subscription license - which actually stops working once your subscription has ended).

However, to be clear, a permanent license does not mean “free upgrades forever”, and I think that is where some confusion exists for some customers and some frustration exists.

I have considered doing a “Lifetime” license which would be a permanent license with “unlimited” upgrades, however I would probably need to charge significantly more for that and the bar might be too high for most SU plugin customers.

If you have any questions with regards to how the licensing system works please feel free to email me specific questions at any time.

Awesome addition to the extension, thanks Nathaniel!

It wasn’t really an addition, it was more something that just needed to be finished. There are probably a few more roof types that need the 3D metal roof option enabled, I’ll need to dig into this.

Version 3.1.8 - 08.29.2022

  • Added a parameter into the general tab of the global settings to allow for adjustment of the size of labels and annotations.
  • Added a parameter into the general tab of the global settings to allow for adjustment of the font for text found within annotations and labels.
  • Added a “resolution” parameter into the general tab of the global settings for adjusting the smoothness of annotation text.
  • Added a “Label Rotation” parameter (0 or 180 degrees).
  • Enabled various annotation options/parameters for truss roofs.

Basically just bringing some of the annotation formatting options over from the Wall Plugin. I will still need to enable these options for rafter roofs, hip sets and complex roofs. This update per user request.

I have a need for Nordic brand I-Joists. All the brands are similar in their offerings, but with some slight differences. Should you maybe consider having a generic, i.e. unbranded, texture for the various products in each popup list. It feels weird to choose what you know is the wrong brand for illustration purposes.

Can you tell me which brand this is?

These people.

We bought I-Joists from them for the house in Michigan. All the I-Joists in the model were made by Truss-Joist

Let me see if I can them into the floor module. I’ve down for a few weeks with a back injury so it will be nice to get back in the saddle.

Also, our source for them where I am is Coastal Forest Products. They have their own pdf documents as well. Nordic as two weights of I-Joist with 2x4 flanges while Truss-Joist has one, so there isn’t exact parity.
