A few month back, the macbook neo was released, and there was the question of its ability to run SU pro. because it’s not a M chipset.
back then, nobody had one, Colin was about to get his.
Has anyone tried running sketchu pro on a macbook neo? does it run ok ?
I don’t expect it to have performances on par with a M4 or M5 (what ? M6 now ? darn.), but not everyone needs to work with Vray and 50 plugins installed and active.
A few models worked better on Neo, and the others were close. In the same test I did compare against a good ARM PC, which is also effectively having to do emulation, and the PC did better than the Neo.
So, as with ARM PCs, there is no statement of SketchUp being directly supported, but it does work fairly well.
I think you did, but the forum didn’t bring it back to me ^^
I remember those numbers, it’s weird how a phone CPU manages to outperform a more recent computer cpu.
if anyone has been using a Neo on a daily basis, I wonder how it performs on the long run, not just initial benchmark.
A colleagues (in charge of our blog / publications) is working on a “what to buy” article. We often get this question for PCs, a lot less for macs, and we wondered if the Neo could be a cheaper solution.
I’ll tell her it’s officially unsupported and that the jury is still out
